Padang Padang Surf Spot

Padang Padang is one of the most famous surf breaks in the world and the crown jewel of Uluwatu. This powerful left hand reef break produces heavy, hollow barrels that draw the best surfers on the planet when conditions peak. The wave breaks over sharp, shallow reef and demands confidence, timing, and experience. Best surfed at mid tide with a solid south to southwest swell, primarily from June to September when the dry season delivers its biggest swells. The lineup is competitive and localism is strong, so respect and surf etiquette are essential. Strictly for advanced surfers only.

Bingin Surf Spot

Bingin is the closest surf spot to WaveHouse Uluwatu, just a three minute walk down the cliff from the camp. This short, hollow left hander breaks over shallow reef and produces fast, tubing waves that reward quick takeoffs and committed surfing. On smaller swells Bingin is more approachable for confident intermediates, but when the swell picks up it becomes a serious barrel with little room for error. Best at mid tide with a south swell, year round but cleanest from April to October. The beach below the cliffs is small and charming, with warungs and sun loungers tucked between the rocks.

Balangan Surf Spot

Balangan is one of the more accessible reef breaks on the Bukit Peninsula, offering a long, fun left hander that peels along a coral reef. The wave has a steep takeoff followed by a workable wall that is ideal for practicing turns and building speed. On bigger swells the inside section can get hollow and produce barrels. Best at mid to high tide with a moderate southwest swell, year round but most consistent from April to October. The palm lined white sand beach is one of the prettiest in Uluwatu and the lineup is generally less intense than Padang Padang or Suluban.

Dreamland Surf Spot

Dreamland is one of the few beginner friendly spots in the Uluwatu area. This wide beach break produces A frame waves over a sandy bottom, making it more forgiving than the reef breaks that dominate the peninsula. The whitewater section close to shore is great for first time surfers, while further out the peaks offer fun rides for intermediates. Best at mid to high tide with a moderate south swell, any time of year. The beach itself is wide and well set up with sun loungers and warungs. A good option for mixed ability groups staying at WaveHouse Uluwatu where not everyone wants to tackle reef.

Suluban Surf Spot

Suluban, also known as Blue Point or simply Uluwatu, is the wave most people picture when they think of surfing in Bali. Accessed through a cave in the cliffs, this powerful left hand reef break produces long, barrelling waves that peel along the reef with speed and power. The wave has multiple sections including The Peak, Racetrack, and Outside Corner, and on bigger swells they can connect for rides of 300 meters or more. Best at mid tide with a solid south to southwest swell, primarily from April to October. Advanced surfers only due to the shallow reef, strong currents, and difficult paddle out.

Impossibles Surf Spot

Impossibles is a long, fast left hand reef break that sits between Bingin and Padang Padang. Named because it was once considered impossible to paddle out through the breaking waves, this spot rewards advanced surfers with powerful walls, multiple connecting sections, and the potential for some of the longest rides in Bali when a big swell hits. On smaller days the sections break separately, offering shorter but still fun waves. Best at mid tide with a solid south swell, primarily from April to October. The paddle out can be challenging and the reef is shallow, so this spot is best left to experienced surfers.

Nyang Nyang Surf Spot

Nyang Nyang is a remote, powerful beach break at the base of towering cliffs on the western side of the Bukit Peninsula. The walk down is steep and long, which keeps the crowds away and rewards those who make the effort with empty peaks and raw ocean energy. The wave produces powerful A frame peaks over sand, with both lefts and rights on offer depending on the sandbars. Best at mid to high tide with a southwest swell, primarily from April to October. Suited to intermediate and advanced surfers who are comfortable in strong currents and do not mind the hike. One of the most beautiful and untouched surf spots in all of Bali.

The wave is a fun left and right breaking over reef, offering decent walls and occasional hollow sections on the right swell. Best at mid to high tide with a moderate south swell, year round. Suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The beach itself is stunning with a small cave, crystal clear water, and resident monkeys along the staircase. Best at mid to high tide with a moderate swell, any time of year. The beach is well developed with facilities, sunbeds, and clear turquoise water. A good alternative for WaveHouse Uluwatu guests who want a more relaxed session or are just starting their surf journey.
